Your Cannabis Therapy: legal and uncomplicated
Since April 2024, a new cannabis law (CanG) has been in effect, allowing doctors to prescribe medical cannabis as a "normal" standard prescription.
Medical cannabis is no longer classified as a narcotic under CanG regulations. As a public health patient, you receive it with a pink standard prescription (also known as an e-prescription), which is now valid for 28 days instead of just 7. For private payers, a blue private prescription is issued directly in the doctor's office and remains valid for three months.
How you benefit
as a cannabis patient
If you qualify as a patient for medical cannabis, you can enjoy numerous benefits, particularly when compared to "self-treatment."
➀
Consultation
Your cannabis therapy is guided by experienced doctors, with the option of online consultations if needed.
➁
Mobility
You are permitted to drive and travel with medicinal cannabis within the Schengen area—and potentially in other countries—as long as you follow the applicable guidelines.
➂
Security
The strains you use are of the highest quality—professionally cultivated, GMP-certified, and complete with detailed active ingredient information.
➃
Availability
You can choose from over 100 varieties across a broad price range, starting at under 10 EUR per gram. Many pharmacies, including online options, offer convenient home delivery.
Find a doctor
Since 2017, under the Social Code (SGB V) in Germany, doctors across all specialties are permitted to prescribe medical cannabis therapy, with the exception of dentists and veterinarians. For example, you can seek guidance from your family doctor, or consult other physicians if a prescription isn't initially provided. Telemedicine offers a particularly convenient option, allowing for online consultations via video.
